Obituary

Warren - Herb left for one last ride to Harley Heaven surrounded by his loving family on October 26, 2021.

Herb was born on December 29, 1944 to the late George Russell and Naomi (Geer) Russell.   He lived in Springfield until 1959 when the family moved to Wales.  In Wales, Herb met his lifelong best friends Terrance and Rena O’Keefe, who have predeceased him.  In his twenties, Herb tried his hand at running the Family Market in Wales, however he quickly decided that wasn’t the life for him.  He then worked as a carpenter, both for himself and local contractors.  Though he excelled, Herb never made carpentry his full-time career, opting to choose trucking.  Together with other friends, Herb and Terry made lifelong memories trucking around the country.  Herb owned and operated H. Russell Trucking until the late 80’s when he decided to stay close to home for family.  He worked at M&M Paving in Monson for 16 years, and then owned and operated H&S Contractors until his retirement.

As a child Herb enjoyed spending time with relatives on their family farm in Wisconsin, or weeks on end in Fulton, New York with family. The time he spent there left everlasting memories he was proud to share with everyone.

In 1982 Herb welcomed his son Brian.  He and Brian enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races.  Herb was very proud of his great carpentry skills and built himself multiple homes with the help of family and great friends throughout the years.  In his later years, he was proud to offer his expertise to his son, as he built his family home.

In 1997, Herb met his wife Sandra and they married in 1999.  His greatest enjoyment in life was riding his Harleys and visiting with friends.  Together Herb and Sandra enjoyed many vacations and Harley rides with close friends.  He was always the life of the party and could frequently be found entertaining with one of his numerous costumes and his great personality.

Throughout the years, Herb, and his brother Delbert, (aka The Malochee Brothers) could always be found at a local diner enjoying a breakfast together.

Herb enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends, as he left an everlasting impression on everyone he met.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Russell; his son, Brian and his wife Susan Russell; his daughter, Jennifer Leneau; his son, Matthew Perrin; his daughter, Michelle Boutwell and her husband Scott; his son, John Perrin and his wife Jennie; his grandchildren, Sadie, Abigail, Anne, Derek, Tyler, Nathaniel, Gabrielle, Gavin, Kaytlin, Alexsis, Demitria, Ava, Leila and Jack; his great-grandchildren, Aili and Trey;   his sisters, Eleanor Fortini of East Longmeadow, Joyce Maybury, of Vero Beach, FL, Thelma Rogers of Cape Canaveral, FL; his sister-in-law, Beverly Russell of Warren as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved and was very proud of, along with too many friends to list.  Herb was predeceased by his granddaughter, Abbigayle Perrin, his brother, Delbert Russell, and his sister, Carol Landers.
