Jane Nichols Obituary

Brimfield/Solon, ME – Jane S. Nichols, 87, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

 

Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Ralph Nichols, Sr., who died in 2020.

 

She leaves her son; Ralph Nichols, Jr., and his wife Bonnie of Brimfield; her two daughters, Catherine Dayhoff of West Brookfield and Deborah Nichols of Sterling; her two brothers, James Rice and John Rice of Thompson, CT; her two sisters, Mary Babbitt of Thompson, CT and Jennie Beaudry of Southbridge; her four grandchildren, one great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.  Jane was predeceased by her sister, Helen Miner and her brother, Eddie Rice.  She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late James and Jennie (Hodak) Rice.

 

Jane worked many years at the Colonial House Restaurant before opening Janie’s Kitchen in Warren.  After retirement, Jane moved to Solon Maine where she enjoyed her cottage on the lake for many years.

 

Jane really loved being outside taking care of her yard, her flowers and feeding the birds.  She also enjoyed making puzzles, baking and spending time with her family.  She will be missed.

 

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
