Ware - John E. Gryszowka, 63, of Ware, died on Saturday, August 22, 2020, in Baystate Wing Medical Center, after a two year battle with lung cancer.
He leaves his wife of nearly 40 years, Charlene D. (Murphy) Gryszowka, and their daughter, Marie Gryszowka of Spencer. He was predeceased by his son, Robert “Bobby” Gryszowka in 2006, following a tragic accident. He also leaves his mother, Gertrude (Hutchins) Gryszowka, his sister, Candice Rucki, four brothers, Brian Gryszowka and his wife Tina of New Braintree, Walter Gryszowka of Hardwick, Marty Gryszowka and his wife Wendy of Barre, and Steven Gryszowka of Ware, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was born is Ware, son of Gertrude (Hutchins) and the late Walter Gryszowka, and was a life-long resident of the Ware and Gilbertville area.
John or “John G” as he was known by his friends, was a down to earth, hard working, and nature loving guy. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic with Gagliarducci Construction Company in Springfield for 35 years before retiring due to his illness. He was a long-time member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 98. John also loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, fishing, and hunting. He was a former member of the Hardwick Rod and Gun Club.
A Graveside Service for John will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 11:30am in St. Mary Cemetery in Ware. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 11:00am in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware prior to the service. In accordance with current Commonwealth of Massachusetts COVID regulations, masks must be worn both in the funeral home and at the cemetery, and social distancing guidelines must be followed.
