North Brookfield -June M. Gallo, 82, passed away peacefully after a 4 year battle with dementia. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Chemero of North Brookfield, and Susan Gallo of Brookfield, CT and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Bernie Gallo.
June was a native of Danbury, CT and moved to North Brookfield in 2010. She worked as a waitress throughout her career and was loved by everyone lucky enough to meet her. June was known for her great sense of humor, feistiness and an unremarkable kindness to all. After retiring she kept busy helping at the Senior Center and checking on neighbors and friends, usually with something she just cooked or baked to share.
June enjoyed her family, tending to her flowers, dogs, dancing, the beach, Willie Nelson, bowling and going out to lunch. Her kindness and humor will be missed by many. She was affectionately known as “Junebug.”
She began her journey with dementia being lovingly cared for at Brookhaven Assisted Living. Her final 2 years were spent at Advinia Care in Northbridge. The care and love she received from every level of staff at Advinia was genuine and unremarkable. We will be forever grateful. The end of this long chapter was taken care of by Salmon Hospice group with such kindness that gave June and her family great peace.
At June’s request, a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, online at alz.org, or 3 Dogs Rescue, P.O. Box 228, Berwick, ME 03901, online at 3 dogsrescue.com.
Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield, is assisting her family with her arrangements. An online tribute guestbook is available at varnumfuneralhome.com.
