Ware - Justine L. (Braun) Marsland, 87, of Ware passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. She was born in Luxembourg, Europe, to the late Jean-Pierre and Catherine Braun-Zimmer on January 12, 1936.
Lydie leaves her five children: daughter, Cathy (Petracone) and her husband Paul of Ware, sons, Bob and his wife Lillie of Hampden, "her Freddy" and his wife Kim of Ware, Richard of Belle Vernon, PA, and George and his wife Annette of Belle Vernon, PA. Lydie will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, John and his wife Marybeth, Joe and his wife Karyn, Jessie, Nick, Katie, Kensey and Whitney and four great-grandchildren, Dominic, Andrew, Jack, and Dane. In addition to her parents, Lydie was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Robert Marsland.
Lydie was a proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known to say, “Children are a necessity, but Grandchildren are a luxury.” She loved spending time with her family, making sure she spent individual time with each family member. She loved to laugh, be adventurous and lived life to it’s fullest. Lydie was also an avid golfer for many years at Dunroamin (known now as Hardwick Crossing) and at 71 rode a mechanical bull at the Salty Dog Saloon in celebration of her grandson's 21st birthday. Lydie spoke 5 languages fluently, and witnessed General Patton liberate Luxembourg after WWII. Lydie proudly drove a 2005 Mustang and enjoyed an occasional drink of Grappa to “clear her mind.”
A Calling Hour for Lydie will be held in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware on June 3, 2023, from 9:30 to10:30am, with a Tribute Video showing with live music promptly at 10:30am, with burial to follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Ware.
