West Brookfield - Katherine S. (Stebbins) Schaaf, 89, of West Brookfield died on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at her home.
She leaves her three sons, Jeffrey Schaaf and his wife Patricia of Wheelwright, Douglas Schaaf and his partner Deanne Tarchini of East Brunswick, NJ, and Thomas Schaaf and his wife Dorena of Agawam; her beloved grandson, Frederick Schaaf of Wheelwright; her nephew David Brooks of Maine and niece, Virginia Brooks of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her brother, George Brooks and her husband Rev. Clarke B. Schaaf. She was born in Greenfield, daughter of the late Harlan S. and Mary (Bard) Stebbins.
Kathy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was very active in the church as her late husband was a minister for the United Church of Christ in Attleboro, MA, Tuscon, AZ, Longmeadow, MA and Fort Pierce, FL. She enjoyed painting and traveling, especially camping with her family in their travel trailer. Spending time with her family and friends brought her great joy and her grandson, Fred, was her most precious gift. She always said the best part of her life was spent raising her 3 sons.
Later, Kathy went back to school at Holyoke Community College, earning certification in Medical Transcription. She went on to work as a Medical Transcriptionist for the Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke, MA and Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, FL.
She loved singing and, after she moved to West Brookfield, was a member of the Silvertones and was active in the West Brookfield Senior Center.
