Spencer - Lawrence A. Corder, 78, of Spencer and a former long-time resident of West Brookfield, died on Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester following a brief illness.
He leaves his children, Lawrence A. Corder, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Warren, Eileen M. Corder-Wood and her husband James of East Brookfield, Timothy B. Corder of North Brookfield, and his former spouse, Kim and Michael P. Corder and his companion Sara Knapik of Brookfield; along with five grandchildren, Liam, Logan, Hannah, Ethan and Riley and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Bridget Ann (Keenan) Corder in 2003, and his sister, Judith Bamihas. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, son of the late Harold and Georgia Corder.
Larry worked in the forging plant at Wyman-Gordon for over 20 years. He enjoyed landscaping and ran a self-employed landscaping company while working and then after he retired. He possessed the gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone at any time. He had love of the University of West Virginia Mountaineers, and was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and took his dogs with him everywhere. Spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events brought him great joy. He loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
A Funeral Mass for Larry will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in West Brookfield. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 5 to 7pm in the Varnum um Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield. Burial will be in Sacred of Jesus Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spencer Police Association, 9 West Main Street, Spencer, MA 01562.
