West Brookfield - Marie A. (Williams) King, 89, of West Brookfield, died on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus.
She leaves her daughter, Cindy M. DiSanto and husband Joseph of West Brookfield; three sons, Stewart D. King, Jr. of West Brookfield, Stephen D. King and wife Barbara of Florida, and Scott D. King and wife Diane of New Fairfield, CT; 7 grandchildren, Amy and husband Dan, Andrea and husband William, Shelley and husband Chris, Carolyn, David, Elizabeth and husband Matt, and Christopher, along with 10 great-grandchildren, Lance, Chelsea, Maddelin, Billy, Drew, Michael, Wesley, Chloe, Gracelyn, and Maddox. She also leaves her brothers, Audley Williams of Columbia, CT, and Arthur Williams of South Windsor, CT. She was predeceased by husband of 52 happy years, Stewart D. King, Sr. in 2006 and her sister, Ruth Bettinger. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Audley D. and Dorothy A. (Ballard) Williams.
In addition to being a wonderful homemaker and mother, Marie enjoyed working in her gardens, as well as quilting and sewing. She loved her large family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of the George Whitefield United Methodist Church in West Brookfield, where she served as the church organist and choir director and director of childrens’ programs.
A Funeral Service for Marie will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11AM in the George Whitefield United Methodist Church in West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30AM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield, on the same day, prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation at eyesight.org.
