Ware - Patrick J. Cantwell, 64, of Ware, died on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center from complications of Covid-19.
Pat is survived by his two sons, Shawn Cantwell and Joseph Cantwell; his sisters Mary Ann Gunn and her husband Bill, and Maureen Mahoney; five grandchildren, Ethan, Caleb, Owen, Raven, and Nova; his beloved niece Nichole and nephew Jared. He will be missed by his niece Monica Willemain and nephew Daniel Gunn. He was predeceased by his wife, Lori (Marshall) Cantwell. He was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (O'Hare) Cantwell.
His childhood in Monson gave him an appreciation for outdoors, he could often be found standing on frozen Long Pond for hours waiting for a tip up to signal “that pike” below. Small town life also endowed him with empathy, his occupation as a CNA allowed him to enhance the quality of life of others. He enjoyed the music Hank Williams Jr. and similar country singers, early rock/folk music. His sense of humor was unique and accompanied him to his parting day.
Despite differences that led to a parting of ways with his ex-wife Becky Cantwell, he often spoke admiringly of her to friends and family. Pat loved and was loved by many and his life was an example of resilience. He will be missed.
His last text was to his sister, MaryAnn, “Covid is a killer.”
Calling hours for Patrick will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 2 to 4PM in Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware.
