Peter R. Hastings

West Warren - Peter R. Hastings, 76, of West Warren, died on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

He leaves his wife of 35 years, Barbara J. (Sablack) Hastings; his daughter, Michelle Beauchemin, and her husband Matthew of Spencer; two grandsons, Robert and Ryan; as well as his sister, Carolyn Hastings.  He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as his many friends.  He was born in Westfield, the son of the late Robert and Anna (Jasper) Hastings.

Peter graduated from Warren High School in 1965, then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War.  After the service, he went on to work as a Materials Handler at Warren Pumps for several years. 

With his friendly nature, Pete was well-known around West Warren and Warren. He enjoyed both history and writing and viewed one of his greatest accomplishments as authoring the History of Warren and West Warren books.

A Funeral Mass for Pete will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:30am in St. Stanislaus Church, 2270 Main St., in West Warren.  Calling hours will be held on the same day from 9 to 11am in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield prior to the mass.  Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Warren following the mass.
