Brookfield - Phillip E. Chipman, II, 47, of Brookfield, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Brigham and Women's Hospital after being suddenly stricken ill.
He leaves his wife of 5 years, Carmen M. (Tavarez) Chipman; his daughter, Maileigh A. Chipman, their son, Phillip E. Chipman, III, and his step-son, Jose L. Martinez; his father, Phillip E. Chipman and his wife, Rima Marie Chipman of North Brookfield; his mother, Christine A. (Lilla) James and her husband Mark James; a brother, Jason Chipman, a step-sister, Merri James Marum, a step-brother, Byron Griffith, a step-brother Mantas Balciunas and Paulius Balciunas and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Phil attended Pathfinder Regional Technical High School in Palmer, and worked in the Information Technologies Department at Baystate Health as a service engineer for over 10 years. Along with his brothers, Phil graduated as a Champion of Honors at his church. He loved the country life and nature. He could name every hawk he saw from a distance. He enjoyed rustic hardcore camping, with evening campfires and playing his guitar. His favorite hobby was play and wrestle with his kids. He loved his family and touched many lives, leaving only wonderful memories behind. Phil could light up the room with his smile and his positive attitude.
He was a long-time member of the Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam.
Calling hours for Phil will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 5 to 7PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield. For everyone’s health and safety along with the current state regulations, masks must be worn and a social distancing of six feet must be followed. Burial will be held privately in Walnut Grove Cemetery in North Brookfield.
