West Brookfield - Richard W. Riberdy, 88, of West Brookfield passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at home with the love of his life of 61 years.
Richard was born in Providence, RI, the son of the late Azellus A. and Marie (Krisco) Riberdy. He leaves his wife, Barbara M. (Krebser) of West Brookfield, his sons Richard J. Riberdy of Orange and Christopher E. Riberdy of Medway; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Richard was pre-deceased by his two sisters, Jean Pion and Viola Fountain.
Richard proudly served his country as a US Marine, serving in the Korean War. As a nature enthusiast Richard worked as a Supervisor for the Department of Environmental Management, for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 32 years before retiring in 1998. Richard was a proud resident and historian for over 50 years living in the town he loved and raised his family West Brookfield. A self made man of many talents Richard enjoyed wood working, bottle digging, metal detecting, and fishing. Richard loved the birds and took great pride in the natural surroundings that surrounded him and his wife at their home on the hill. A man of great faith Richard was a member of Our lady of Sacred Heart parish, in West Brookfield.
A funeral mass for Richard will be held on Tuesday September 26, 2023 at 10:00 am in the Sacred Heart church in West Brookfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, PO Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
