Richard Szloch Obituary

Ware - Richard J. Szloch, 76, of Ware died on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, after a long illness.

 

He leaves his loving wife, Lillian Szloch of Ware; his children, Steve Fritscher of Wheelwright,  Richard Szloch, Jr. of Ware and Annette Koczur of Gilbertville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Steven Szloch and David Szloch both of Ware and his sisters,  Debra Danitis and Barbara Johnson both of Ware and Stasia Cantin of Palmer.  He is predeceased by his two sisters, Gladys Kmiec and Phyllis Coache.  He was born in Ware, son of the late Stanley and Annette (Kusek) Szloch.

 

Richard worked as an Engineering Supervisor at Mary Lane Hospital for over 30 years.   He was a member of  the Ware Fire Department for 27 years, earning the rank of Captain.  He also worked as a Civil Defense Coordinator for the Town of Ware.

 

Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He was the “go to” guy.  If you need something done, he was right there offering a helping hand.  You could also find Richard out in his workshop, spending time making projects out of wood.  He will be missed by those who knew him.

 

Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware is assisting his family with arrangements.
