New Braintree - Robert A. Duclos, 76, of New Braintree passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at home after a short illness with his loving wife and daughters by his side.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Phyllis J. Duclos; his two daughters, Tina and her husband David O’Donnell and Nicole Duclos and her husband Tim Shobe; his adored grandchildren, Erica, Quinn, Rachel, Camila and Matthew and three great-grandchildren, Claire, Lainey and Theodore, his sister Judith Lamoureux and daughter-in-law Kimberly Duclos. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Duclos who died this past January.
Robert was born in Worcester, son of the late Romeo and Doris (Page) Duclos. He was a Teamster member and drove trucks for over 40 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran.
Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He had an engaging personality with a bright smile, and was a quick witted, wisecracker who always had a funny saying, joke or story to share. He loved the outdoors and built a home in the woods with the help of his wife and many friends. He and Phyllis raised their family enjoying the solitude and beauty of mother nature. Robert loved walking in the Quabbin and exploring the forests and mountains in Alaska. He was a hard working man who was a little stubborn yet very determined and would help anyone, anytime who needed something. He adored his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him a “Santa” or “Paw.”
The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time as well as his dear friends, Debbie and Douglas Morrison who were always there to lend support or a helping hand. “Bobby’s” family will be forever grateful.
In the words of his granddaughter Erica, “He was the best grampy.”
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 2 to 4PM in Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street in West Brookfield.
