Holyoke - Robert M. “Chip” Mannix, III, 61, of Holyoke and formerly of West Brookfield, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at home surrounded by the love of his family.
He leaves his devoted wife of 19 years and caregiver, Debra A. (Thresher) Mannix; his step-children, Melissa Davidson and Shannon White, both of Louisville, KY, along with his two sisters, Patricia A. Landine and her husband Philip of West Brookfield, and Katharine M. Ostrout. He also leaves his nephews, Kevin and Brian Landine, and Gary Ostrout, and nieces, Lynn Collins and Christine Lavin.
Chip grew up in West Brookfield, graduating from Quaboag Regional High School. He attended Worcester State College, and graduated from the former Becker Junior College. While a student at Worcester State, he was a member of the golf team which won the 1983-1984 NE Division 3 Championships. The team was later inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame.
He worked for several years as a Branch Manager for TLC LawnCare. He enjoyed being outside, and in his spare time, kept his competitive edge over the years while playing golf. He was a scratch golfer, and participated in many longest drive competitions while playing at local golf courses. Chip was very proud of his Irish heritage. He loved Irish music and was often seen in his Irish knit sweater and wool cap.
A Funeral Mass for Chip will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 10:00am in Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, 22 West Main St., in West Brookfield. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening, November 15, 2022 from 5 to 7pm in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield.
