Roberta J. (Weare) Berthiaume

West Brookfield - Roberta J. (Weare) Berthiaume, 76, of West Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Harrington Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  

She leaves her beloved and devoted husband of 57 years who was also her best friend and fishing buddy, Rene J. Berthiaume; two daughters, Tina Frizzell and her husband John, Jr (Jack) of Worcester, and Coreen St. Jacques and her husband Greg of N. Brookfield; two grandchildren, Alex St. Jacques, and Noelle St. Jacques, as well as two sisters, Juanita A. Hayes of N. Brookfield and Lillian Szloch of Ware along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Day, and Diane Plante. She was born in Ware, daughter of the late Robert C. and Cora (May) Weare.  

Roberta enjoyed being a homemaker and devoted her life to her family.  She worked as a baker in the kitchen at the West Brookfield Elementary School for several years, making delicious breads, rolls, and treats for the children and staff to enjoy. She loved spending time with her family camping and traveling the coastline of Maine, especially the beaches of Ogunquit and Old Orchard Beach along with visiting the lighthouses of Maine including Bug Light and Spring Point Light; she also enjoyed the Cape Cod Coast especially Nauset Beach.  Sitting by an open campfire and reminiscing of old times with her family always made her smile and brought great joy to her.  Bird watching was something she enjoyed doing every day from her dining room window and always loved to see her cardinals, humming birds and orioles.  She was a talented knitter and enjoyed making hats, mittens, sweaters, scarfs and afghans.  Her greatest loves though, were Alex and Noelle.  

At her request, services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585 or the Adams-Cooney-Frew American Legion Post 244, P.O. Box 252, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
