Roy S. Green, 80

North Brookfield - Roy S. Green, 80, of the East Brookfield Road, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Cynthia M. “Cindy” (Pierce) Green; four children, Cheryl Hague, Brenda Sullivan and her husband Jon, Walter Green and his wife Susan, and Leighann Chace all of North Brookfield; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  He was born in Ware, son of the late Eiferd B. and Hazel E. (Ide) Green and was a lifelong resident of North Brookfield.

Mr. Green worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for 1 year for Edgar Sykes of Barre and while working for Atlas Distributing, Inc. in Auburn for 41 years he worked part time for Ralph Young Construction and Rip Hardsog Trucking in Oakham before retiring in 1998.   After retirement he worked part time for Alpine Construction of Southbridge, M. L. Partlow & Son Paving, Inc. in Sturbridge, Bo Lee’s Excavating in New Braintree and H. R. Salem Transport of North Brookfield.

He attended church at the First Congregational Church in North Brookfield, was a member of the Teamsters Local 170 and enjoyed going hunting in Maine and fishing.

A Funeral Service for Roy will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 4:00 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield.  Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 2 to 4 PM in the funeral home.
