Russell Paul Smith

Ware - Russell Paul “Calico” Smith, of Ware passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center at the age of 53. He was born to the late William and Beverly (Charron) Smith on August 14, 1969 in Ware.

He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kayla Smith and son, Sean Miller. Russell will be mourned by his older siblings, Bill Smith of Warren, Patty Smith of West Warren and Barbara Olearczyk of Warren. He is also survived by his loving niece, Alexis Olearczyk, and nephews, Nathan Olearczyk, Greg and Edward Mello. In addition to his parents, Russell is predeceased by his niece, Mandie Hewitt.  

Russell was a Union Carpenter at Consigli Const. Co., Inc. for many years. When he wasn’t working, he could be found fishing, hunting or simply enjoying the outdoors. His long-time nickname “Calico,” is attributed to his love for fishing for calico bass. Russell was always having people around him laughing with his quick wit and jokester ways.

A Calling Hour for Russell will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4:00 to 5:15pm in Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware, followed by a short service beginning at 5:15pm.  Following the service, a reception will be held at the Aspen Street Rod and Gun Club in Ware.  Burial will be held privately by the family.
