Shirley A. (Demers) Socha

Ware - Shirley A. (Demers) Socha, 77, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.  She was born on January 12, 1943 in Ware daughter to Albert and Alice Lorraine Demers. 

She leaves behind her husband of 40 years, David J. Socha of Ware, her son Glenn Baker of Ware, her daughters, Colleen Vallone of Three Rivers and Leighann Watts and her husband Tim of Ware; her Grandson, Anthony Vallone of Belchertown, her beloved Granddog, Grady Watts, her Aunt, Marlene Beauregard who was more than an Aunt, she was her friend, and many nieces and nephews.  Her parents and sister Nancy Rucki predeceased her.  

Shirley was a graduate of Ware High School where she was a cheerleader. She also sang with Manya Banas and Judy Guzik at record hops in a group known as the 3 seniors.  Shirley once proudly road and owned a Harley Davidson.  She was also a graduate of Mansfield Beauty Academy and worked as a hair dresser and later as a teacher’s aide for the Ware Public Schools where she met her husband, David.  She also spent many years caring for teachers’ children while they worked, they became family to her. 

Shirley loved feeding wild birds throughout the year and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed time on Cape Cod in her younger years and when the water got too cold, she settled in Sandbridge, VA where she watched the dolphins play from the porch of the beach house.  That was where she happily spent her final days, and passed peacefully after a morning looking at the ocean with family and friends by her side. 

A Funeral Mass for Shirley will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11AM in the All Saints Church, 17 North Street in Ware.  A Calling Hour will be held from 9:30-10:30AM in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street in Ware prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in New St. William Cemetery in Ware.  In accordance with current Massachusetts COVID regulations, mask must be worn and social distancing guidelines must be followed while in the funeral home and the church.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J.
