Simon Sierak, 80

Brookfield - Simon Sierak, 80, of Deer Run, died Friday, December 30, 2016 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 35 years, Helen M. (St. Denis) Plante Sierak; his children, Michelle Gray and her husband Eric of Charlton, Michael Sierak and his husband Timothy Walsh of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Mark Sierak of Hollywood, CA, Karen Cembura and her husband David of Ware, Christine Robidoux of Ware, Ann Marie Plante of Warren and Troilus Plante and his wife Beth of Wellesley; two brothers, Jean-Pierre Sierak and his wife Nicole of Limoges, France and Henri Sierak and his wife Pierrette Luczyk of Agen, France; one sister, Danielle Szezur and her husband Christian of Frespech, France; his mother-in-law, Dorothy St. Denis of Brookfield; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was born in Zalipie, Poland son of the late Pierre and Angèle (Dymon) Sierak and grew up in Poland and France before moving to the United States when he was 21.  Simon lived 15 years in Sturbridge and then 35 years in Warren before moving to Brookfield in 2014.

Mr. Sierak worked for 35 years for the American Optical Company in Southbridge before retiring in 2002. 

Simon was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Warren and loved sports of any kind and most of all loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 A Funeral Mass for Simon will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM in St. Paul’s Church, 1060 Main St. in Warren.  A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM in the church.  Burial will be in the spring in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in West Brookfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting his family with arrangements.
