West Brookfield - William C. Prizio, 86, of West Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Irmgard (Schaefer) Prizio, his daughter, Robin and her husband Aram, Jr. “Ticky” Thomasian of North Brookfield; his son, Robert Prizio and his wife Sabine Prizio of Charlton; six grandchildren Aram and Derek Thomasian, Maria Hatstat, and Robert, Sarah, and Joseph Prizio; one great-grandson, Anthony Hatstat; three sisters, Linda Lincoln and her husband Gary of Brookfield, Mary Truhel of North Brookfield, and Elizabeth “Betty” Dorney of Warren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Eva Prizio in 1981, and his sister, Julie Nydam. He was born in Brookfield, son of the late Grace (Boynton) and William G. Prizio.
Mr. Prizio is a United States Army Veteran.
Bill worked in the Food Service Industry for over 30 years and retired from Kraft Foods in 1993, where he worked as a Sales Representative.
Bill enjoyed staying active even in his more senior years. He would follow his almost daily gym routine at either Sims or at the YMCA in Southbridge. He was a life-time member of the North Brookfield Lions Club where he served as Past President and Membership Chairman receiving many awards such as the Melvin Jones Fellowship, Joseph Camada Award, and he volunteered at numerous events over his membership. He was also a former member of the West Brookfield Sportsman’s Club, and had served his community as a member of the West Brookfield Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
A private Graveside Committal Service with Military Honors for Bill is being planned for a later date. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
