Elizabeth “Betty” Patricia Tetrault, 83

Charlton/Brookfield – Elizabeth “Betty” Patricia (Cronin) Tetrault, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family.

Born and raised in Brookfield, Betty was the daughter of James and Helena (Hughes) Cronin. She graduated from St. Peter High School in Worcester Class of 1951, and was also a graduate of Worcester Girls’ Trade School. Prior to raising her family, she was a hairdresser and owned and operated her own beauty salon.

She leaves her five children: Michael Tetrault and his wife Patty of Fruitland Park, FL, Thomas Tetrault of Brookfield, Michelle Booth and her husband David of Brookfield, Elizabeth Tetrault of Brookfield and Catherine Cronin of Charlton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was pre-deceased by her twin sister, Nancy, and her infant son Ernest Tetrault.

She was an avid gardener and could often be found taking long walks on the beach. She enjoyed painting and often used her beloved Cape Cod and her children and grand-children as inspiration for her art. She was a member of St. Pius X Parish in South Yarmouth, MA and St. Joseph’s Parish in Charlton, MA. She was a woman of great faith and that faith sustained her through a long battle with cancer.

Family and friends will long remember her for her humor, her hospitality and her gifts of knitted hats, paintings, hand-crafted toys and delicious chocolate chip cookies.

A Funeral Mass for Betty will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church in Brookfield and everyone is asked to go directly to the church.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Visitation House, Inc., 119 Endicott St., Worcester, MA 01606.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
