            Carl  Kszaszcz, 91, of Ware passed peacefully away on Feb. 16th, his late son Philip’s birthday, from heart failure. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years Roslyn (Bartoszek) Kszaszcz, his son Richard Kszaszcz, his daughter Carla Kszaszcz- Heath and her husband Richard, his 3 grandchildren Sarah, Richard and Hannah, his nephew Paul Kszaszcz, nieces Betty Lloyd, Claire Lauridsen, Carol Smith and their spouses, in-law nephews  and  nieces, Edward Pazik, Barbara (Boron) Pazik, Richard Gancas, Cheryl (Masajada) Bobrik, Rita (Bartoszek) Wilmot, Sandra (Bartoszek) Crampton, and Jay  Bartoszek, as well as many loving friends. He was prededeased by his son Philip, and by his parents Stanley and Stephanie ( Krasowska) Kszaszcz.  He was born in Ware on Feb 21 1924. During WWII he enlisted at age 18,  in the Navy Sea Bees, serving  as a barber, stationed at Atka Alaska and Saipan from 1942 to 1946. He received a special honor for saving his battalion from a Japanese ambush.  Following his years of service, he ran a fruit business, owned Mulvaney’s Restaurant in Ware, distributed Hood Ice Cream, and was affectionately known as “The Ice Cream Man” selling his treats from his  “Howdy Doody Wagon”. He continued his barbering career at his VIP Shop in Amherst, until age 83. In his spare time he was an active member of American Legion Post #123 and VFW Post  of Ware. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday Feb. 27th at 11am at the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St in Ware , with Father Jeffrey Ballou officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A Calling Hour will be held on Saturday from 10 to 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be to American Legion Post #123  45 Maple St. Ware MA 01082 or to St. Mary’s Church, 60 South St. Ware MA 01082. The family wishes to give special thanks to all his loving caregivers, Nicole Conner and her team, Orchard Valley of Wilbraham and their Veterans Program ,Ascend Hospice, and St. Mary’s Parish Ministry.
