West Brookfield - Brice I. “Chipper” Leslie, 60, of George Allen Rd., died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
He leaves his wife, Kimberly (Eaton) Leslie; one son, Christopher Leslie of Houston, TX; two step-sons, Hunter Haynes of West Brookfield and Camden Haynes of Grafton; two brothers, Buren Leslie of Florida and William Leslie and his wife Joan of West Brookfield; his sister-in-law, Laurel Leslie of West Brookfield; his aunt, Martha Cummings of West Brookfield and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Leslie in 1981. He was born in Ware, son of the late Robert I. and Buena V. (Whisnant) Leslie and was a lifelong resident of West Brookfield.
Mr. Leslie served as a police officer for the Town of West Brookfield for 15 years before retiring as Sergeant.
Brice was a Colonel in United States Army and received numerous commendations and medals including the United Nations Medal for service with the United Nations Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the NATO Medal for Service with NATO on Operations in Relation to the former Yugoslavia and a Bronze Star for his service during Operation Iraqi Freedom before retiring from the Army in July 2015.
He was a 30 year member of the Adams–Coney–Frew Post 244 American Legion, and a lifelong member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM at the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. A Graveside Service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield.
